Working in the front office, you will be the first person the guests meet in the hotel so you will play a key role to making their visit great by performing good customer service. Also, your job will include various administrative and clerical tasks. Your tasks will vary every day from basic office tasks (eg. organizing documents and answering the phone) to helping customers with whatever they need.

-Duties

In the front office your duties will vary every day and they may include: ensuring accurate and efficient running of reception including check in/out procedures, responding to guest queries in a timely and efficient manner, insuring that both the Front Office Manager and Reception Supervisors are kept fully aware of any relevant feedback from Guests and/or other departments, demonstrating a high level of customer service at all times, understanding thoroughly all hotel room categories, room rates, packages, promotions and other general product knowledge necessary to perform daily duties, maximizing room occupancy and use upselling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities, understanding correct procedures regarding the acceptance of foreign currencies, credit cards and cash in accordance with the hotel credit policy, ensuring all Guest deliveries and messages are received effectively and efficiently, acting in accordance with fire, health and safety regulations and follow the correct procedures when required, following and adhering to company brand standards, assisting other departments wherever necessary and maintaining good working relationships with team members.

-Area Description

Corfu (Kerkyra) is one of the most important and beautiful islands in Greece, perhaps the greenest island with dense vegetation and a well developed road network. It is an island with a long history and has been notable in Greek culture and tradition for over 3000 years. It has been inhabited since the paleolithic era and later by the Phaeacians as mentioned in the Odyssey. 

-Requirements

Everybody is eligible in working in hotels, but the program is highly beneficial for those studying a degree related to tourism and hospitality. Previous work experience in the same field is considered an advantage.

-Curriculum Activities

There are plenty of ways to spend your spare time in Corfu. You can take one of the many cruises around the coast or join in one of the sightseeing tours around the island. Corfu Town is a gem for sightseeing with many monuments from the Medieval times, including the Old Fortress, the New Fortress, Liston Promenade and the Church of Saint Spyridon, protector of the island. Visitors should not miss the quarter of Kanoni, a bit outside Corfu Town, with the nice view to the Mouse Island and the chapel of Panagia Vlacherna. Very impressive sights in Corfu are also the Achilleion Palace, the Monastery of Paleokastritsa and the Fortress of Angelokastro.

-Work Day

You will be working 8 hours per day with a break for your meal. There are different shifts at the hotel so you may be working in the morning, evening or night shift. You might have a straight shift (work 8 hours in a row) or a split-shift (work 4 hours first and after a break work another 4 hours).
