Working in the front office, you will be the first person the guests meet in the hotel so you will play a key role to making their visit great by performing good customer service. Also, your job will include various administrative and clerical tasks. Your tasks will vary every day from basic office tasks (eg. organizing documents and answering the phone) to helping customers with whatever they need.
-Duties
In the front office your duties will vary every day and they may include: ensuring accurate and efficient running of reception including check in/out procedures, responding to guest queries in a timely and efficient manner, insuring that both the Front Office Manager and Reception Supervisors are kept fully aware of any relevant feedback from Guests and/or other departments, demonstrating a high level of customer service at all times, understanding thoroughly all hotel room categories, room rates, packages, promotions and other general product knowledge necessary to perform daily duties, maximizing room occupancy and use upselling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities, understanding correct procedures regarding the acceptance of foreign currencies, credit cards and cash in accordance with the hotel credit policy, ensuring all Guest deliveries and messages are received effectively and efficiently, acting in accordance with fire, health and safety regulations and follow the correct procedures when required, following and adhering to company brand standards, assisting other departments wherever necessary and maintaining good working relationships with team members.
-Area Description
Amarynthos, also known as Vatheia, is a coastal town located in the Southern Gulf of Evia, in the valley formed between the mountains Olympus and Kotylaio. It is 30 km from the city of Chalkida and 126 km from Athens.
The area is famous for the excellent quality of the fish caught in the nearby fishing grounds and served in the coastal fish restaurants and tavernas that you will find in the area.
The main attractions of Amarynthos is the Cathedral of the Annunciation with the stunning marble iconostasis in the centre of the town, the Folklore Museum of Amarynthos, the Macedonian tomb in the area of Vlychos and the monastery for nuns of Saint Nicholas in Ano Vatheia.
-Requirements
Everybody is eligible in working in hotels, but the program is highly beneficial for those who have a degree related to tourism and hospitality. Previous work experience in the same field is considered an advantage.
-Curriculum Activities
You can spend your leisure time as you love. There are many beautiful beaches in the area with water sport possibilities and beach parties. In biggest island cities you can find many other leisure activities such as shopping places, restaurants and bars. During the summer in some cases and if there is enough interests agency arranges visit tours.
-Work Day
You will be working 8 hours per day with a break for your meal. There are different shifts at the hotel so you may be working in the morning, evening or night shift. You might have a straight shift (work 8 hours in a row) or a split-shift (work 4 hours first and after a break work another 4 hours).
