When setting your timetable, always remember that starting the process early is the best way forward. University websites and other academic Internet sites may provide quick and convenient access to the required application forms, but you still need time to research your options, contact teachers and institutions to provide recommendations and transcripts, and sign up for required entrance exams in time to meet application deadlines.

Credential Evaluators

School curriculum varies by country, not only in language but also in practice. Many schools accepting students from other countries require the official status of your school and need to verify the authenticity of documents. This is where credential evaluators come in. Your school may require you to submit transcripts to a credential evaluator who will examine your credentials and translate the documents into your host country curriculum for review.

Upon succesful acceptance from a university we will provide the student with the necessary documents to apply for Visa.

The cost of the study visa is not included and is paid directly to the embassy and not to Algoos.

Different types of higher education providers in Canada include: universities (which carry out research and provide both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees), community colleges and technical, applied arts or applied science schools (which grant certificates, diplomas, associate’s degrees and bachelor’s degrees).

As universities in Canada are managed by provincial governments, you’ll find there will be slight differences in how education is carried out. Quebec, in particular, is markedly different to the rest of Canada, with different term times and length of study. For instance, students finish secondary school a year early and must take a mandatory pre-university General and Vocational College (CEGEP) course, essentially eliminating the freshman year of university. Student jobs in Canada

If you’d like to get a part-time job to help support yourself while studying in Canada, you can work on or off-campus for up to 20 hours during university semesters and full-time during breaks such as the winter or summer holidays, without the need for a work permit.

To qualify, you must:

  • Have a valid study permit
  • Be a full-time student
  • Be enrolled at a designated learning institution at post-secondary level
  • Be studying in an academic, vocational or professional training program that leads to a degree, diploma or certificate that is at least six months in duration

Student living costs in Canada

Living costs in Canada are a bit above average, but the high quality of life is guaranteed. You would need between 800 – 1,500 CAD/month for most provinces, such as Quebec, Montreal and Ottawa.

Vancouver and Calgary are some of the most expensive cities in Canada, where living costs can reach 2,000 CAD/month.

Accommodation costs

You’ll have many housing options to choose from in Canada, and an equally diverse price range.

The main housing options for students in Canada are:

  • Student residences: 250 – 625 CAD/month
  • University-arranged homestays: 400 – 800 CAD/month
  • Rent & share an apartment: 300 – 700 CAD/month, prices for rent depend on location and facilities. If you choose to rent a studio/one-room apartment, you can pay over 1,000 CAD/month.

Other costs associated with accommodation

When you rent an apartment or studio, it comes with extra costs:

  • basic utilities (electricity, water, heating, garbage): 150 CAD/month
  • internet: 50-70 CAD/month

Food costs

You won’t spend too much on food bills, just around 300 CAD/month for shopping from the local supermarkets and groceries. Some of the cheapest supermarkets you can find all over Canada are Canadian Superstore, Walmart, No Frills.

If you want to eat in a restaurant, you will have to pay around 10 – 25 CAD. A three-course meal for two in a mid-range restaurant will cost 50 – 65 CAD.

Transportation costs

Students enrolled in a Canadian university, aged between 18 and 25, will benefit from discounts when purchasing a monthly transport pass.

  • The total price of a transport pass is 90 CAD/month, while a one-way ticket is worth 3 CAD.
  • Taxis are also a common way of transport all over Canada and fares are between 2 and 6 CAD/km

Application Process for Entry in Universities in Canada

International students often underestimate the amount of time required to apply for admission to a college or university in Canada You can avoid this mistake by setting a schedule for yourself that begins well in advance of the time that you plan to begin your studies. Completing your Registration process a year in advance is highly adviced.

When setting your timetable, always remember that starting the process early is the best way forward. You will need to allow yourself sufficient time to thoroughly research the institution and/or program that will best serve your academic and professional goals. Then you must meet the application deadlines of the universities to which you apply, which may be up to ten months before the beginning of the school term.

Especially for schools with competitive admissions, the application process takes a significant amount of time and effort. You will need to write personal statements and request recommendations from teachers or others who know you well. Even if you are applying on line via the Common Application, you will want to get started early. University websites and other academic Internet sites may provide quick and convenient access to the required application forms, but you still need time to research your options, contact teachers and institutions to provide recommendations and transcripts, and sign up for required entrance exams in time to meet application deadlines.

Application Timeline

This application timeline will provide you with detailed information about the steps you should take and when you should take them in order to plan your approach to studying in Hungary. The plan starts 18 months before you wish to study, so you need to get planning soon! Of course, if you don’t have that much time you can still jump in and catch up – but there earlier the better!

Credential Evaluators

School curriculum varies by country, not only in language but also in practice. Many schools accepting students from other countries require the official status of your school and need to verify the authenticity of documents. This is where credential evaluators come in. Your school may require you to submit transcripts to a credential evaluator who will examine your credentials and translate the documents into your host country curriculum for review.

The student needs to go online and Buy the program- Study in Hungary- once done we will require all the documents and certificates written under the Entry Tab and we will begin the application and Enrollment process on behalf of the student.

Upon succesful acceptance from a university we will provide the student with the necessary documents to apply for Visa.

The cost of the study visa is not included and is paid directly to the embassy and not to Algoos.

Student visa and application fees

To study in Canada, you will need to obtain a Canadian study permit, which serves as a student visa for the duration of your stay. You do not need a Canadian study permit if your course or program lasts six months or less. Applying for a study permit costs CA$150 (~US$114). Fees to apply to universities in Canada will vary depending on the university and your country of origin. For example, the University of British Columbia charges undergraduate Canadian students CA$70.50 (~US$53.40) and international students CA$118.50 (~US$89.70). You may be able to get this fee waived if you are an international student from a developing country.

 

Scolarships in Canada

Scholarships, grants and bursaries are available for international students wishing to study in Canada, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These include specific scholarships for sporting and academic achievement, and subject-specific scholarships.

Many universities in Canada offer their own scholarships, so you might also be able to apply for a scholarship offered exclusively by the university at which you plan to study. In all cases, it’s important to apply as early as possible as scholarship funding is limited and highly competitive. International applicants are also advised to research study abroad scholarship opportunities offered by organizations in their home country.
