The food and beverage service is part of the service-oriented hospitality sector. It can is a part of a large hotel or tourism business and it can also be run as an independent business.
There are many different types of food and beverage service types or procedures, but the major category of the food service is 1) Plate Service, 2) Cart Service, 3) Plater Service, 4) Buffet Service and 5) Family style service.

-Duties

During your internship as a food and beverage trainee you may be responsible for the following duties:

  1. Check and clear Waiter’s station during and after service.

  2. If required assist in bringing food from kitchen to the guest ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

  3. Handle all guest complaints in a professional manner.

  4. Clear soiled silverware and any other operating equipment to designated wash-up/storage area.

  5. Able to generate the final bill from the POS system and offer to guest settlement.

  6. To clear and re-set tables according to instructions.

  7. To clean all soiled linen to the designated area.

  8. Report any theft or damages to Manager/ Assistant Manager.

  9. Report to Restaurant Manager/ Assistant Manager before completion of the shift.

  10. Help other areas of the restaurant such as answering telephones and completing financial transactions.

-Area Description

Kardamena, is a resort town on the Greek island of Kos. It’s known for its long, sandy beach, which is lined with bars, tavernas and nightclubs. Just inland, are the hilltop ruins of the 14th-century Antimachia Castle. Nearby is Antimachia village, with a replica of a 20th-century traditional Greek house. Boats run from Kardamaina to the volcanic island of Nisyros, home to the active Stefanos Crater.

-Curriculum Activities

Kos, one of Greece’s Dodecanese islands, is known for its abundant sandy beaches. It’s also rich with Greek and Roman landmarks, particularly in and around Kos Town. This harbor town is dominated by the 15th-century Neratzia Castle. South of the castle are the Ancient Agora ruins, with a temple, shrine and columns. The 3rd-century Casa Romana villa has lavish mosaics.

-Work Day

As a food and beverage service trainee you may work full shift that means 8hrs in a row or a split shitf which means 4 hours in the morning and four hrs in the afternoon/ evening.
