General Purpose is to maintain a clean sanitary, comfortable and tidy environment.

-Duties

Main job tasks and responsibilities is to sweep, scrub, mop and polish floors. Vacuum clean carpets, rugs and draperies. Shampoo carpets, rugs and upholstery. Dust and polish furniture and fittings. Clean metal fixtures and fittings. Empty and clean trash containers dispose of trash in a sanitary manner. Clean wash basins, mirrors, tubs and showers. Wipe down glass surfaces. Make up beds and change linens as required. Tidy up rooms, wash windows as scheduled. Sort, wash, load and unload laundry. Iron and press clothing and linen. Sort, fold and put away clean laundry. Operate mechanized cleaning equipment. Maintain all cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition. Monitor and report necessary domestic repairs and replacements.

-Area Description

Kos, one of Greece’s Dodecanese islands, is known for its abundant sandy beaches. It’s also rich with Greek and Roman landmarks, particularly in and around Kos Town.  Kos is a breathtakingly beautiful island, the home of Hippocrates, where the rich history, the numerous monuments, the sandy beaches and the natural beauties will enchant you. Beaches in Kos vary from organized coasts with luxurious hotels and water sports centers, to secluded, naturism-friendly beaches.

-Requirements

Everybody is eligible in working in hotels, but the program is highly beneficial for those studying a degree related to tourism and hospitality. Previous work experience in the same field is considered an advantage.

-Curriculum Activities

Kos island has crystal beaches, interesting sightseeing, intense nightlife, traditional villages and delicious restaurants.  The Asklepieion is the most famous sight, which was actually a healing center in the ancient times. Worth visiting are also the Ancient Agora, the Roman Odeon, the Venetian Castle in Town and the Castle in Antimachia. In Kos you can find watersports that are exclusively there and are not found in other Greek islands. Such is the Super Jet Boating, a fantastic powerful jet boat with two turbo engines. Many other Kos watersports are found in the popular resorts of the island, such as Kefalos, Psalidi, Kardamena, Agios Stefanos and Mastihari.

-Work Day

You will be working 8 hours per day with a break for your meal. There are different shifts at the hotel so you may be working in the morning, evening or night shift. You might have a straight shift (work 8 hours in a row) or a split-shift (work 4 hours first and after a break work another 4 hours).
