Bellboys, also known as bellhops, provide assistance to guests with their luggage and transportation needs. Becoming a bellboy usually requires only a high school diploma and new hires receive on-the-job training.

-Duties

A bellboy or porter provides customer service to hotel guests in the following ways: Luggage assistance: Bellboys assist guests in transporting luggage to and from guest rooms. In some cases, the bell desk will also store luggage for guests who have arrived at the hotel before check-in time and will hold luggage for those who have checked out of their accommodation but aren't yet ready to leave the hotel or its neighborhood. Transportation assistance: Bellboys often assist guests in arranging for transportation, either by hailing cabs on the street, calling cabs or contacting other transportation services on behalf of the hotel patron. Greeting hotel patrons: Bellboys often stand near or at hotel doors, greeting and directing patrons to the front desk, restaurants or other areas of the building. Special needs assistance: In situations where a hotel guest has physical disabilities, a bellboy may assist in transporting the guest to his or her room or other areas of the hotel. Bell staff may also help the guest into and out of vehicles. Providing local information and advice: If a hotel does not have a concierge, the bell staff may assist guests by providing information about local attractions, restaurants and activities.

-Area Description

Limassol is a city on the southern coast of Cyprus. It’s known for the centuries-old Limassol Castle, home to the Cyprus Medieval Museum and its collection of pottery and tombstones. On the seafront is the Prokymea (Molos) Sculpture Park, with sculptures by Cypriot, Greek and international artists. To the northeast is the Limassol Archaeological Museum, exhibiting artifacts from the Neolithic to the Roman periods.

-Curriculum Activities

Cyprus, officially the Republic of Cyprus, is an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean and the third largest and third most populous island in the Mediterranean.During your free time you should definitely visit the following attractions: * Pafos Archaeological Site * Ancient Kourion * Tombs of the Kings * Kiniras Garden * Aphrodite’s Rock & Beach and try one day excursions and safaris organized on the island. Cyprus offers the possibility to see historical places and also stay at the beautiful coastline getting tanned by the strong sun rays.

-Work Day

The day starts with direct meeting with your supervisor. During the day person is working 8 hours with breaks for meals. In the evening, trainees usually have day evaluation meeting, where they can discuss all the difficulties which happened during the day, dinner and free time. On day-off trainees can plan their day in the way they want, participation in the meetings is not obligatory.
